Kildare gun owners warned to renew licences

Firearm certificate holders are being reminded by An Garda Síochána in Kildare to check the expiry date on their licences and ensure renewal applications are submitted promptly.

Renewal forms are typically issued around three months before the current certificate expires. Once received, holders should complete the form and return it to their local Garda Station as soon as possible to avoid delays.

An Garda Síochána warns that leaving the renewal until close to the expiry date may result in the firearm being considered unlicensed if the new certificate has not yet been issued.

In such cases, Gardaí have the authority to seize firearms where the licence has expired.

Anyone who has not received a renewal form or has questions about the process is advised to contact their local Garda Station for assistance.
