Gardaí based in County Kildare are investigating a harrowing dangerous driving incident which occurred at a filling station.

Details of the incident were read out on KFM recently by Garda Ann-Marie Reilly, who appeared as a special guest on one of the station's programmes.

She explained that the incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, March 8 last.

According to Gda Reilly, a driver was preparing to leave the Applegreen station in Athy when a dark-coloured jeep "drove at speed" in front of the driver.

She described the incident as a case of dangerous driving and also urged anyone with information to contact Athy Garda Station on 059 863 4210.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this matter, a garda spokesperson replied: "Gardaí received a report of an alleged dangerous driving incident that occurred in Athy, County Kildare on March 8 last at approximately 8.50pm."

The spokesperson added that the investigation is ongoing.'
