An information evening aimed at first-time home buyers is coming soon to County Kildare.

The event, which outlines the 'Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme' is being organised by Kildare County Council (KCC).

Explaining the nature of the scheme, KCC said that it aims to make new homes available for purchase by eligible applicants at reduced prices.

"In return, KCC will take a percentage equity stake in the Affordable Purchase home."

KCC also explained: "KCC's equity stake will be equal to the discount of the purchase price from the full market value of the home; for example, if an eligible applicant purchases a home at a 20 per cent discount, KCC will take a 20pc equity interest in the home."

In addition, KCC emphasised that the scheme is for first time buyers (along with some exceptions).
