BREAKING; Gardaí release statement on Deirdre Jacob search on Kildare border

Gardaí investigating the separate disappearances and murders of Jo Jo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob have concluded the current search phase at a location in Co. Wicklow near the Wicklow/Kildare border

Gardaí announced this evening that the search operation on the Kildare border for evidence in the investigation into the disappearances of Deirdre Jacob and JoJo Dullard has "concluded".

The operation at a quarry between Baltinglass and Dunlavin began over a week ago on February 16.

The Garda statement said:

"Gardaí investigating the separate disappearances and murders of Jo Jo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob have concluded the current search phase at a location in Co. Wicklow near the Wicklow/Kildare border.

"A further assessment of the site remains ongoing.

"An Garda Síochána has provided an update to the families of Jo Jo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob in relation to this phase of the search and they have been fully appraised of these developments.

"An Garda Síochána also acknowledges the ongoing cooperation and support of the landowner.

"An Garda Síochána appeals to anyone with any information in relation to either investigation, no matter how small or insignificant you might believe it to be to contact any Garda station, or anyone who wishes to provide information confidentially should contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."

The relatives of missing Deirdre Jacob and JoJo Dullard visited the search site on Sunday afternoon.

Deirdre’s parents Michael and Bernadette Jacob from Newbridge and JoJo’s sister Kathleen Bergin were accompanied at the location by gardaí.

One of the lines of inquiry being pursued by Gardaí is that prime suspect in Deirdre’s murder, Larry Murphy, was seen burying a car in the area.

The  search operation was led by the Serious Crime Review Team, Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation supported by the Garda National Technical Bureau and local resources from Kildare Division as required.
Gardaí said the search operation had the support of other state expertise.

An Garda Síochána appealed to anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant you might believe it to be to contact any Garda station, or anyone who wishes to provide information confidentially should contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
