The late Sadie Duffy (RIP)
A moment of silence was observed at the start of a Kildare County Council meeting in memory of one councillor's late mother.
Mayor of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD), Fianna Fáil Cllr Noel Heavey, explained to his fellow councillors today (February 18) that Fine Gael Cllr Kevin Duffy was unable to make the latest MD meeting, as his mother had passed away earlier this week.
As such, a moment of silence was observed in memory of his late mother.
Following this moment of silence, Mayor Heavey said a well-known Irish message of condolence: "Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí."
In addition, on RIP.ie, the Minister of Agriculture (and Cllr Duffy's party colleague), Martin Heydon TD, was among those who paid tribute to his mother's memory.
He said: "My sincere condolences to Kevin and all the Duffy family on the sad passing of Sadie.
"May your memories of her as a loving mother, grandmother and friend bring you comfort in the times ahead."
Minister Heydon concluded by saying: "Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam."
