Kildare garda issues renewed information appeal relating to fatal Mylerstown road traffic collision

A member of An Garda Síochána (AGS) based in County Kildare has issued a renewed information appeal relating to a fatal road traffic collision in Mylerstown.

Garda Orlaith Fahy made the appeal when she appeared as a guest on a KFM radio programme yesterday (February 4 last).

She explained that the fatal incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday, January 31 last and involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian.

Gda Fahy added that the pedestrian, who was "walking along a dark country road" at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She also said that it was raining heavily in Mylerstown at the time.

Gda Fahy concluded by urging anyone with information and / or dash-cam video footage of the incident to contact Clane Garda Station on 045 868 262.

ORIGINAL STATEMENT

The original statement in relation to the fatal incident was released by AGS on the afternoon of Saturday, January 31 last.

A spokesperson for AGS explained at the time: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 5.25 am in the Mylerstown area, Robertstown, County Kildare, on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

"The pedestrian, a male in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been transferred to hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

"No other injuries have been reported."

The spokesperson also revealed that the scene was preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and that the road has since reopened.

In addition, they said: "Anyone who was travelling in the area between 5am and 5.45 am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available to investigating gardaí."

"Gardaí can be contacted at Leixlip Garda Station on (01) 666 7800, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111, or any garda Station."

The spokesperson concluded by saying that investigations are ongoing.
