A councillor has told Kildare County Council (KCC) that "a specific plan" is needed for a playground in Kildare.

Fianna Fáil Cllr David Trost made the assertion while in attendance at the latest Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District (MD), which took place on Friday, January 16 last.

Specifically, he raised the topic via a motion in which he urged KCC to "establish a specific plan for the complete upgrading of the playground at Willowbrook in Celbridge, including a specific time-bound delivery".

Cllr Trost's motion was seconded by his party colleague, Cllr Bernard Caldwell.

Speaking further on his motion, Cllr Trost told KCC: "We need a specific plan to be outlined [for this location] as soon as possible."

RESPONSE

Replying to Cllr Trost's motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting that works on this playground are being considered for the 2026 Parks Works Programme.

However, KCC also said: "It [the works] would have to be considered in the context of existing commitments to projects within the MD and the staff resources to deliver projects."

In addition, KCC's acting senior parks and landscape officer, Simon Wallace, who was also in attendance at the meeting, assured the councillors that KCC "recognises that this playground is one of the older ones [in the MD]".
