The wet conditions of last Winter resulted in delays to one footpath project, Kildare County Council (KCC) revealed.

The response was given in response to a question which was heard at the latest Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, January 16 last.

The question, which was submitted by the Mayor of the Municipal District, Labour Party councillor Rupert Heather, read as follows: "Can KCC advise when construction of the path in the Grove Estate is expected to begin, given that the project has been approved, funded, and a contractor has been appointed?"

In response to his query, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "The construction of the path in the Grove Estate in Celbridge will be carried out as soon as ground conditions allow."

KCC added: "Due to the very wet winter, this work is [not] likely to begin until late Spring 2026."

Mayor Heather replied that he accepted the report.
