Kildare County Council (KCC) has reminded the general public that applications remain open for a fund aimed at supporting historic buildings across County Kildare.

As part of the Historic Structures Fund 2026, grants ranging from €50,000 to €200,000 are available to support the conservation and reuse of historic buildings across Kildare.

KCC explained that the Historic Structures Fund 2026 provides capital funding for works to qualifying structures, which include the following:

  • Protected Structures — "Structures in the Record of Protected Structures (RPS) of each Local Authority";
  • Structures eligible for or proposed for inclusion in the RPS but have not yet been formally approved for inclusion. KCC explained: "Such structures must meet the criteria for inclusion in the RPS by the Local Authority, i.e. must be of special interest from an architectural, historical, archaeological, artistic, cultural, scientific, social or technical point of view";
  • Structures or works within Architectural Conservation Areas (ACAs), or within the amenity of a National Monument, "where exceptional circumstances apply"

The closing time and date for applications is 4pm on January 16, 2026.
