A Kildare county councillor has vowed to keep his office open on Christmas Day to those in need.
Taking to Facebook to make the announcement, Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender announced that he will be repeating his tradition of keeping his Newbridge office open on Christmas Day.
He said: "If you want to pop in for a chat and a cup of tea or coffee, please do. I will even have some biscuits.
"No one should be alone at any time of year, and I know Christmas can be a hard day for many; you might want a break from the house; you might just want company for a while; you might want a quiet chat. You are welcome."

"I have a few drops to make in the morning, but the office will be open from 12pm to 6pm."
Cllr Pender concluded: "If you need a place to go, this door is open."
His office is located at Unit 1, Liffey House, Eyre Street, Newbridge (W12 PD3).
Cllr Pender also made headlines earlier this week when he criticised the decision by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) to approve further electricity price increases.
