A junction in North Kildare is back functioning normally, according to Kildare County Council (KCC).

The announcement was made by KCC at the latest Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District meeting, which took place on Friday, November 21 last.

At this meeting, Fine Gael Cllr Paul Brooks, who appeared at the meeting by virtual means, asked KCC if it could "outline and potentially review the timings of the traffic lights at the bottom of Captain's Hill in Leixlip Village".

In response, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "As part of recent road resurfacing works in the area, some of the traffic sensors were damaged causing the junction not to operate as efficiently as normal.

"This infrastructure has since been repaired, and the junction is back functioning normally."

KCC also told Cllr Brooks that its traffic management section will monitor the junction "to determine if any improvement can be made to maximise junction efficiency".

Cllr Brooks welcomed the report from KCC, especially as, according to him, traffic in the region "has been absolutely crazy for the last month or so".
