Kildare Town school traffic warden retires

She kept the children of Kildare town safe for some 40 years, but school is finally out for well-known lollipop lady Valerie Ryan.
The school warden retired on Monday, June 30, after serving for four decades with Kildare County Council.
Valerie saw thousands of children safely across the road to the classroom, and said she has crossed the grand-children and great-grand-children of those she first looked after some 40 years ago.
Road Safety Officer Declan Keogh said Valerie has provided an excellent and outstanding work as school warden over the years, in all kinds of weather conditions. “I wish her every happiness and wellbeing in her retirement. The students will miss her, no doubt,” he said.
