The boy appeared before the court in relation to an allegation surrounding a fire which started at a care home on August 7, 2024.
Sgt Dave Hanrahan said that it was possible that perfume was used to start the fire.
The defendant was legally represented in court and was accompanied by people working in the care profession.
Solicitor Tim Kennelly said the defendant is a talented writer.
“He has shown me some of his poetry,” said Mr Kennelly.
Judge Zaidan urged the boy to open the results adding he might be pleasantly surprised.
"Don't waste your life,” added the judge.
The defendant was initially remanded on continuing bail.
