Newbridge Rugby Club is planning a monster open day at its Rosetown grounds this Saturday, September 7, in order to welcome new members to the club.
The free event will tak place between 2pm and 5.30pm at its Rosetown Clubhouse and pitches, which are located just outside Athgarvan village.
There will be fun for all the family at the open day, including a food and crafts market, a barbecue, bouncy castles for children, Noel’s Magic Mice, face painting, games, refreshments, spot prizes and much more.
There will also be rugby demonstrations for those who would like to get involved in the game, but are not too familiar with its rules.
Prospective and existing members, from young kids to adults, are welcome along to join in the fun on the day.
While the club welcomes new players of all ages and abilities, it is also extending an invitation to prospective non-players, and those who are new to the area. It wants to hear from those who would be interested in coaching or helping out, which is a great way of meeting new people.
The club’s ladies team, in particular, will be looking to recruit new players on the day, and those who are interested in playing for the women’s squad are invited to come along.
Further details can be found at www.newbridgerugby.com or on the club’s Facebook page.
Some Newbridge RFC players are also swapping their scrum caps and football boots for boxing gloves.
On Saturday, September 14, they will square off against members of the army in a White Collar Boxing match to take place at Time nightclub in Naas. Money raised will go towards the club and the Curragh Lourdes Fund. Tickets at €20 are now on sale from club members and will be available at the door.
