Gardaí attached to Naas Roads Policing Unit (RPU) recently attended a three-vehicle Road Traffic Collision in Caragh, Co Kildare.
One motorist was arrested on suspicion of drink driving at the scene.
Tests later confirmed the driver was four times over the legal limit for alcohol.
The individual was charged with multiple offences and will appear before the courts in due course.
Driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence under the Road Traffic Acts.

The penalties include:
Fines of up to €5,000
Disqualification from driving for three months up to six years
Possible imprisonment for up to six months
A permanent criminal conviction
A message from An Garda Síochána Kildare stated: “Even a small amount of alcohol can affect your driving ability. Never drink and drive — the risk is never worth it.”
