Kildare County Council (KCC) has been urged to reconsider its decision in relation to a safety audit for a road in South Kildare.
Labour Party councillor Aoife Breslin made the request at the latest Athy Municipal District meeting, which was held on Monday, September 15 last.
She asked KCC: "Can the council confirm if it plans to carry out a safety audit on Church Road, Athy from the entrance to the council car park to the entrance to the train station?"
KCC replied by telling Cllr Breslin that the MD Office currently does not have a safety audit planned for this location.
In turn, Cllr Breslin admitted that she was disappointed by KCC's response.
She also told KCC that there have been "major changes" when it comes to the presence of traffic in the Athy MD.
"It has led to more people using the train station," Cllr Breslin said. "I would ask KCC that its reconsideration would be given to my motion."
The Mayor of the MD, Fine Gael Cllr Ivan Keatley, said that he noted Cllr Breslin's comments.
