Kildare's Naas Roads Policing Unit operated a checkpoint on the R401 at Brackagh in North Kildare recently.
A large SUV was stopped by gardai, and it transpired the driver had no motor insurance.
The vehicle was impounded by Kildare gardai, with a court appearance to follow.
The possible penalty is a fine up to €5,000 and a two-year disqualification.
Meanwhile, Naas Roads Policing on patrol on the N7 observed a van driver with a mobile phone in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice of €160 was issued along with three Penalty Points.
As the driver is already on nine points, he is now facing a six months disqualification from driving.
The message from An Garda Síochána Kildare is: “Please drive with due care and attention at all times. #SaferRoads”
