Kildare Gardaí co-hosting local property marking event
Residents in Monasterevin in Co Kildare are being encouraged to take part in a Community Property Marking Event later this month, aimed at deterring theft and helping to trace stolen items.
The event will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10am to 4pm at Tirlan Monasterevin.
It is being organised by An Garda Síochána and Monasterevin Community Alert, in collaboration with Muintir na Tíre.
Locals are invited to bring along their personal property, such as tools, bicycles, electronics and other valuables, to have them marked with a unique identifier. This free service makes items easier to return to their rightful owners in the event of theft, while also discouraging criminals by reducing the resale value of stolen goods.

There is no registration required, and owners can record their property markings for future reference. Gardaí and Muintir na Tíre representatives will be on site to assist and to provide information about other community safety initiatives.
Organisers are encouraging residents of Monasterevin and surrounding areas to take advantage of the initiative, which forms part of wider efforts to promote crime prevention and community safety.
Further details are available from Monasterevin Garda Station.
