How the new development will look (McCarthy O'Hora Architects)
A major €1.4 million extension has been proposed for Rathangan National School on Bracknagh Road, Co. Kildare.
The plans include a two-storey Special Educational Needs (SEN) Base covering 934 square metres.
The ground floor will feature two class bases with safe spaces, storage, WCs, changing facilities, a central activities space, an office, and a boiler room.
The first floor will provide four classrooms with ensuite WCs, a resource room, and storage. The development also proposes the removal of existing prefabricated units, to be replaced with a new tarmacadam play area.
Other works include the partial removal of an existing boundary and trees, demolition of 48 square metres of existing changing rooms, and construction of a new 87 square metre changing room building.
A sensory garden and (Special Educational Needs) SEN play area will be created, along with four additional car parking spaces, a new gas tank with a secure fence enclosure, and associated landscaping, drainage, and site services.
If approved, the works will replace older facilities and provide upgraded resources for students with special educational needs in the Rathangan area.
