Five couples are living in one house because of the housing crisis.

That's according to Ireland First councillor Tom McDonnell, who made the claim at a Kildare County Council meeting.

He said that the “all have good jobs” but can't afford to rent or buy independently.

Cllr McDonnell called on KCC to make serviced sites available for housing construction in Kildare. 

He also said builders should be compelled to allocate a portion of lland that they are developing for this purpose.
