New local political leaders elected in North Kildare

The Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District Committee has appointed Councillor Rupert Heather (Labour) as Cathaoirleach and Councillor David Trost (Fianna Fáil) as Leas Cathaoirleach

The Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District Committee has appointed Councillor Rupert Heather (Labour) as Cathaoirleach and Councillor David Trost (Fianna Fáil) as Leas Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District Committee.

The appointment took place at their annual meeting, which was held in Áras Chill Dara in Naas on Friday last. 

Both are newly elected first-time councillors who were successful in the Local Elections in December 2024. 

Cllr Heather received 672 votes and took the fourth seat in the election. 

Cllr Trost topped the poll receiving 1,687 votes, 311 above the necessary quota.
