Kildare County Council is to issue a further request to Uisce Eireann regarding an invitation to attend a municipal district meeting over the replacement of a watermain along the Hazelhatch Road in Celbridge.

Cllr Claire O'Rourke (SD) tabled a question at this month's Celbridge-Leixlip MD meeting, calling on Uisce Eireann to attend a municipal district meeting “to provide a step-plan and timeline for the replacement of approximately 5.3km of six-inch asbestos watermain along the Hazelhatch Road in Celbridge.”

Cllr O'Rourke further called for Uisce Eireann to indicate a proposed date for their attendance to a municipal district meeting.

A report issued by the council noted that a written request was sent to Uisce Eireann on April 23 last, on foot of a motion tabled by Cllr O'Rourke.

The response to this letter from Uisce Eireann indicated that work was scheduled to commence in Q3 2025, however no further reply was received.

The council confirmed to Cllr O'Rourke that it is awaiting a reply from Uisce Eireann confirming its attendance at a future municipal district meeting, and that “a further request will issue if needed.”
