Accommodation needed in Kildare for people coming out of addiction treatment

Accommodation must be provided for people coming out of addiction treatment and into independent living.

Kildare County Council has been asked to engage with stakeholders such as the South Western Regional Drugs and Alcohol Task Force, Cuan Mhuire, Youth for Peace Hostel, the Peter McVerry Trust and approved housing bodies.

This, says Cllr Chris Pender, should be done to  “identify a suitable property or properties that can be used to support them."

He said KCC should prioritise properties located near existing support services or accessible public transport links to ensure continued engagement with recovery programmes.

He also wants KCC to explore funding opportunities and existing schemes “to support the acquisition or adaptation” of these venues.
