Kildare County Council is going all electric

All of the Kildare local authority's vehicles will be powered by electricity

Leitrim will lose visitors if it doesn't have enough electric vehicle chargers

All vehicles used by Kildare County Council will be fully electric.

Five electric vehicles were bought by KCC during 2024.

Two months ago KCC said it has “commenced the migration towards both zero emission and low emission fuels” this year.

The council's transport department is committed to energy reduction as older vehicles in the fleet are replaced. 

Apart from those bought last year, more will be added to the fleet during 2025.

However Cllr Bill Clear wants to know how much progress has been made to date “change the council’s fleet of vehicles to EVs.”

He wants to know if tenders have been issued and the expected timeframe for the completion of this process.
