The proposed €1.5m development in Athy is seeking planning permission from Kildare Co Council

A scheme of proposed apartments will radically change the look of a part of this Kildare town.

The nine homes are planned for St Michael's Terrace, at the back of the Irish Tax Rebates building on Leinster Street in Athy.

The proposed €1.5m development is seeking planning permission from Kildare Co Council.

Developers are planning the demolition of the existing warehouse premises and the construction of a two-storey terraced building.

The new building will have nine residential units comprising 3 one-bedroom apartments, 3 two-bedroom apartments and 3 three-bedroom apartments.

There will be first floor roof terraces to the three-bedroom units.

Also in the designs is a new public footpath, new car parking and bike storage.

New public realm improvements are also in the plans.
