Well known Kildare shoemaker/cobbler Bill Glennon is remembered

The death took place recently of Naas resident and well known shoemaker/cobbler Bill Glennon.

Mr Glennon’s iconic premises at New Row, Naas, was known to many people who came from far and wide.

He was remembered in a series of tributes on RIP.ie

“Bill will be missed by many. His magical ability to heel a shoe, and repairing so many loved soles, giving new life to a boot . Children delighted to hear of the tail of the little elves boot hanging in the window. A pleasure to call to, for a chat . Rest in peace now Bill . Thinking of all your families loss, at this time,” said one.

“Genuinely loved when i left my shoes into Bill leaning through the hatch watching the mastercraftsman at work. The talk always moved on to racing and i could be there for half an hour talking through the days cards. You have left me some great memories. God bless you and thanks for everything Bill,” posted another.

Mr Glennon passed away peacefully, at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, on June 7. He is survived by his wife  and son Brian grandson Fynn, daughter-in-law Fiona, sister Sally, brothers Pat, Chris and Peter, extended family, friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his sister Mary and brother Michael.

His funeral took place to St. Corban’s Cemetery, Naas,after requiem mass at the parish church on June 11.
