Local Fianna Fail Minister James Lawless TD has welcomed the announcement today (Wednesday, May 28) from the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD of the award of €17,650 for the Naas Farmers Market in Co Kildare.

The award is part of over €300,000 in funding going to twenty-two local agri-food tourism projects throughout the country under the 2025 Rural Innovation and Development Fund.

Minister Lawless states “the development and interest in the agri-food is growing along with its importance to local communities. It is positive to see this funding being secured for numerous projects across the country. However, it is also very positive to see that the Naas Farmers Market has secured a grant for €17,650”.

“The Naas Farmers Market in the historic Potato Market has been running since 2023 and it is very positive step that this funding is secured to assist in the market progressing forward and I would encourage members of the community to support these valuable markets which allows food companies of all sizes to showcase their own produce while also allowing providing opportunities for local rural businesses, including farmers to develop their products and services.”
