Kildare County Council has no funding for projects like this

There are no plans to install a pedestrian crossing across a busy road in Naas.

Naas mayor Fintan Brett said a "suitable crossing" should be put in place from the Elmwood estate to Friary Road, across Blessington Road, Naas.

He told a municipal district committee meeting that there are three wheelchair users in Elmwood and a crossing would have the desirable effect of slowing traffic at the dangerous junction with Friary Road.

But Kildare County Council said at present there are no financial resources available to deliver such crossings.

The meeting was also told that should funding become available, the delivery of a crossing would need to be considered “in the context of the prioritisation of similar requests.”
