Man seeks protection in Kildare court after his elderly father threatens to put him out

A man sought court protection, claiming that his elderly father had threatened to put him out of the house.

The man claimed at Naas District Court his father is very volatile and “I find him very difficult to cope with.”

The man also told Judge Desmond Zaidan that he suffers from schizophrenia.

“I depend on him for housing, I live with him," he told the court. His father was not present nor was he represented in court.

He also alleged that “on occasion” he has slept in outhouses in the yard.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said that the risk to personal safety did not meet the threshold for him to grant an interim protection order.

However the judge added that the man could apply for a safety order and both he and his father could come to court for this hearing.
