Kildare teen made threats to burn down a house and cars over alleged debt

A man who made threats to burn down a house and cars appeared before Naas District Court.

The 18 year old has an address in Leixlip and is being prosecuted for an offence at Maynooth on May 31, 2024.

Sgt Mary Meade outlined that the injured party reported that  the defendant had sent messages alleging that a relative of the injured party owed 45,000.

Defending barrister Mark Gibbons said the youth was aged 17 at the time  and he wished to enter a plea of guilty.

The court was also told that the defendant had no previous convictions.

Judge John Brennan commented that the threats were serious and he adjourned the matter for a probation report.

The case is due to come before the court again on September 2.
