Councillors in Kildare should have a say in naming new estates

Local councillors should have a say in the naming of new housing complexes in County Kildare.

This is according to Fianna Fáil councillor Suzanne Doyle, who pointed out that assessment of the policy surrounding how residential estates are names took place in 2018.

She said the policy should be amended to require the "approval of local municipal district committees in confirming names to be used."

She said the naming of new estates should recognise the value of local knowledge and avoid repetition.
