Kildare County Council (KCC) was asked by a local representative to provide an update for the The Curragh Camp Post Office.

Social Democrats councillor Pat Balfe enquired about the status of the premises at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting yesterday (April 16 last).

He also requested KCC to include details "of any correspondence issued and received in relation to it".

In response, KCC said via its report at the meeting: "The Curragh Camp Post Office is a protected structure. It is listed on the
Record of Protected Structures maintained by Kildare County Council.

"It is not in council ownership. the most recent correspondence are as follows: (1) A letter issued to the Department of Defence dated October 7, 2019 and (2) a letter received from the Department of Defence dated November 13 2019."

KCC also provided the letters to Cllr Balfe.
