Gardaí based in County Kildare are investigating hit and run incident which led to a male juvenile being hospitalised for his injuries.

Explaining the incident to the Leinster Leader, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "Gardaí received a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and a bicycle on the Strandhouse Road in Newbridge, County Kildare at approximately 10pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

"The cyclist, a male juvenile, was transferred to Children Health Ireland at Crumlin for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

"The car involved failed to remain at the scene."

The spokesperson concluded by saying that "investigations are ongoing" at present.
