Car park owned by Kildare County Council may open to public at weekends

Kildare County Council is being asked to allow the car park at Aras Chill Dara, Naas, to open to the public.

Cllr Evie Sammon has asked KCC if any progress has been made on opening it for the public to use at weekends.

The possibility of this happening first emerged over a year ago when KCC official Eoghan Ryan said issues such as opening hours and security need to be addressed first but the request to open it is “being actively explored.”

Cllr Sammon made the initial request describing it as “a huge car park sitting empty every weekend” and she said it would be used by people unwilling to drive into Naas.

She suggested that it should be possible for people to walk through a gate from the front to access the car park rather than having to walk around the building.
