Spring has sprung and the Nás Na Rí Singers Spring Concert is just around the corner.
As a continuation of the Brigid 1500 celebrations, the Of Earth and Heaven concert will be taking place tomorrow, Sunday, May 26 at 4pm in St. Brigid’s Parish Church, Kildare Town.
“For those unfamiliar with The Nás na Rí Singers, we are a mixed-voice choir of nearly 70 members, based in Naas, Co. Kildare,” said the group.
“Members are drawn not just from Naas, but from all over Kildare, Wicklow and Dublin. Among our members are singers who have been proudly singing with us from the very first day and singers who have been with us for just a few months.”
Embracing the beauty and connection between Heaven and Earth, the concert will feature works by Eric Whitacre, Sir Hugh Stevenson Roberton and Scenes from The Bavarian Highlands Op27 by Edward Elgar.
Most excitingly the concert will also feature the world premiere of Brigid 1500. This piece was specifically commissioned for the Nás Na Rí singers and was composed by Conor O’Reilly with beautiful lyrics written by Jane Clarke.
“Joining us for the concert to help us perform this new and exciting work is mezzo-soprano Norah King and the Scoil Bhríde (Naas) Children’s Choir,” added the groupl
“Finally, this concert is being hosted not only in celebration of St. Brigid but also in support of Teach Tearmainn, a Domestic Abuse Support Service for women and children across County Kildare. A portion of the profit from our ticket sales will be donated in support of Teach Tearmainn.
“We are looking forward to welcoming you for yet another night of joyful music, so please join us on our concert night, Sunday, May 26 at 4pm in St. Brigid’s Parish Catholic Church, Kildare Town.”
Tickets cost €20 (adult) and €10 (child) and can be purchased on www.eventbrite.ie
