Joyce and Donovan to clash

St Michael’s Athy duo David Oliver Joyce and Eric Donovan will meet in the first ever all Irish World Series of Boxing when the German Eagles host Kazakhstan in Hannover, writes Ruth Chambers.

St Michael’s Athy duo David Oliver Joyce and Eric Donovan will meet in the first ever all Irish World Series of Boxing when the German Eagles host Kazakhstan in Hannover, writes Ruth Chambers.

Saturday’s lightweight bout will be a repeat of last year’s Irish Elite semi final which Joyce won.

Joyce has won one fight for the Eagles this season, while Donovan beat Serb Branimir Stankovic to help Kazakhstan defeat Italia Thunder.

The World Series of Boxing is an international competition for amateur boxers, organised by AIBA.
