Kildare GAA: Maynooth book spot in SHC decider

Naas too strong for Moorefield in B final

Kildare GAA: Maynooth book spot in SHC decider

In a cracking game of hurling at Manguard Park, Hawkfield, this afternoon, Maynooth came from behind to defeat Éire Óg Corra Choill in a most enjoyable game.

Always expected to be a close affair, Éire Óg Corra Choill led at the break 1-10 to 0-6, the goal coming from Paul Dolan.

Maynooth upped their game in the second with full forward Kevin Dunne adding 2-2 to his first half point while Cathal McCabe added six points to his first half tally of two.

Éire Óg Corra Choill added just six points in the second half, all frees, from the impressive Liam Dempsey but it was Kevin Dunne's two goals that swung it in favour of Maynooth who now take on Naas in the UPMC final on 3 November at Cedral St Conleth's Park, Newbridge.

In the UPMC SHC B decider Naas came out on top against Moorefield.

Naas led at the break 1-11 to 0-7, the goal coming from the stick of CJ Boran.

Moorefield, who will be promoted regardless, certainly did not throw in the towel and while they gave it their all they went down eventually on a final score line of Naas 1-21 Moorefield 0-17.
