Action needs to be taken to improve road safety at two locations in Maynooth.

Cllr Tim Durkan wants Kildare County Council to put in  traffic calming measures at Laraghbryan West “given the number of accidents at this location in recent years.”

He noted that the area is governed by a 60 km/h speed limit.

Cllr Naoise Ó Cearúil called for a speed ramp on Fagan's Lane “to counter excessive speeding.”

Cllr Ó Cearúil said there is a lot of speeding in the area and there have been multiple incidents of people going the wrong way on the route.

KCC is to  carry out surveys and the results of these will decide what action is to be taken.

The gardaí will also be asked for their views.
