Teams must include at least one male and one female member and span at least two generations

Applications have opened for the next series of Ireland’s Fittest Family, with families across Kildare being urged to put themselves forward for the hit RTÉ competition.

Now entering its 14th year, the popular programme is searching for the country’s fittest, fastest and strongest families ahead of filming for the 2026 series.

Producers say this year’s competition will feature even tougher challenges along with a number of unexpected twists as families battle it out for the €15,000 prize and the title of Ireland’s Fittest Family.

Kildare families interested in taking part must meet a number of criteria. Teams must include at least one male and one female member and span at least two generations.

A team can consist of four immediate family members, including at least one parent or step-parent and one child. Where necessary, three immediate family members may be joined by an extended family member such as a grandparent, aunt, uncle or first cousin.

Participants must be at least 14 years old by June 14, 2025.

Filming for the new series will take place between May and September 2026, with families required for up to eight filming days, mostly on location.

The closing date for applications is June 13, 2026.
