Climate Fortnight runs from Saturday October 17 to Saturday October 31 2026

Kildare County Council is delighted to announce a packed programme for Climate Fortnight 2026, running from Saturday 17 to Saturday 31 October.

The fortnight will feature a range of events in libraries across the county, all designed to raise awareness about sustainability, responsible consumption and energy efficiency.

Highlights Include:

  • Clothing Upcycling and Repair Workshops
  • “Community as Adaptation” Panel Discussion
  • Climate Writing Workshop
  • Solas and Savings: Energy Information Pop Up
  • Halloween Fun Fest

The programme will also include two screenings of a UK-based Climate Advocacy film the “People’s Emergency Briefing” produced by the UK’s National Emergency Briefing team. (Please note that the film is intended for audiences aged 16 and over and is shown through the lens of the UK political system. Some of the content may therefore not be applicable in an Irish context.)

Screenings will take place at the Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge at 7pm on Tuesday, October 20 and Clanard Court Hotel, Athy at 7pm on Thursday, October 29.

Speaking ahead of Climate Fortnight, Paula O’Rourke, Climate Action Coordinator, Kildare County Council, said, “The day-to-day choices we make have an impact on the creation of a sustainable future for generations to come. We hope that Climate Fortnight will support and help inform positive choices and behavioral change.”
