Naas District Court was told on Thursday, December 22, that a man put his ex-girlfriend 'in fear' while in a Kildare pub.

Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan during the in-camera (in-private) court session that the man approached his ex-girlfriend, who had a protection order against him, in a pub in Kildare.

Later, she caught him repeatedly staring at her in the pub, and at one point, he appeared to visibly laugh at her from across the pub.

The woman told gardaí that she felt intimidated by this.

A garda told Judge Zaidan that the offence was 'on the lower end (of a breach).'

The judge remanded the man on continuing bail until the case returns in May of next year.

Judge Zaidan also reminded the man that the protection order remains in place, and he must not breach it.
