134 new apartments proposed for Naas, County Kildare

134 new apartments have been proposed for an area in Naas.

Planning permission documents lodged with Kildare County Council show that Westar Homes Limited are seeking consent from the council for the construction of the apartments.

The large-scale residential development (of circa 2.9 hectares) has been proposed for lands within the townland of Naas West, 'Finlay Park', Naas.

The proposed development will consist of the construction of a mixture of 70 two-storey apartments and 64 single-storey apartments, as follows: 22 one-bedroom apartments, 77 two-bedroom apartments and 35 three-bedroom apartments with private open space provided in the form of balconies or terraces as follows:

  • Block A (four-storey apartment block) comprising 26 apartments (six one-bed units, two-bed units and four three-bed units)
  • Block B (part 4, part 5 storey apartment block) comprising 66 No. apartments (10 one-bed units, 33 two-bed units and 23 three-bed units), with a commercial/health/medical unit (c. 247.6 sqm) at ground floor
  • Block C (part 4, part 5 storey apartment block) comprising 42 apartments (six one-bed, 28 two-bed units and eight three-bed units.

Consent is also being sought for vehicular/pedestrian and cyclist access from the Old Caragh Road (in new arrangement) along with the provision of 201 undercroft and surface car parking spaces, as well as 388 undercroft and surface cycle parking spaces and an internal road and shared surface networks, including pedestrian and cycle paths.

A Public Open Space is also being sought by Westar Homes Ltd, which would include a proposed plaza, as well as central communal (courtyard) open space including outdoor playground area at podium level, and one temporary (for three years) three-sided signage structure (c. 4.5m in height) at the entrance to the proposed development.

In addition, permission is being sought for the provision of foul and surface water drainage, including relocation of existing foul main in northern part of site as well as green roofs; linear greenway path, bin stores; plant rooms; public lighting and all associated landscaping and boundary treatment works, site development and infrastructural works, ESB substations, and all ancillary works necessary to facilitate the development.

The application notes that a dedicated website has been set up for the LRD application which can be viewed at www.finlayparklrd.ie.

The date received is listed as December 16 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as January 28 and February 18 respectively.

According to the business information website SoloCheck.ie, Westar Homes Ltd was set up on Friday, November 14, 2014.
