Good news! Green light for €8m extension to Kildare school

Limerick school secures approval for three new classrooms

Kildare County Council has granted planning permission to Kildare and Wicklow Education Training Board for an extension to Athy Community College. 

The new two-storey building will have 15 classrooms. 

The development which will consist of partial demolition of the existing school, a new two-storey extension and a single storey multi purpose hall.

Also included will be the refurbishment and alterations of the existing two-storey school building such as the removal of existing pre-fabricated temporary accommodation, new ballcourts, additional car parking and lighting and a photovoltaic panel.

The total floor area will be 6,208 square metres on a site of almost four hectares. 

The estimated construction value of the project is over €8m according to the Construction Information Service database.
