Pedestrian crossing is needed on busy Kildare road

Naas town centre office evacuated because of fire

Speeding cars and a large amount of trucks means that a pedestrian crossing is needed in Naas.

Cllr Bill Clear said, at a Naas Municipal District meeting, that the  feasibility of an uncontrolled crossing should be examined at Blessington Road.

He said it should be put in to link the Elmwood area with Friary Road “given that there is a significant population on the east side of the road trying to access the town and schools  safely.”

He was supported by Cllr Anne Breen, who said “it’s nearly impossible to get across the road.”

KCC indicated that an assessment of the location to determine whether a pedestrian crossing is warranted at this location and if  so, what type of crossing could be provided “in accordance with current regulations and guidelines.”
