KWWSPCA COLUMN: Starving lurcher rescued near Naas

This is one of the worse cases of animal cruelty and neglect that the KWWSPCA has seen for some time.

This young lurcher was found recently near Naas; she was starving and had terrible mange and other skin complaints. The person who found her was appalled by the state of her and took her straight to Moss Vets in Naas.

The vets contacted the KWWSPCA to ask if we would take her as a welfare case which, of course, we agreed to do. She was named Juno in the vets and one of the veterinary nurses very kindly offered to foster her and to keep her until she was ready for her forever home.

She is doing well so far. She eats well, has put on weight and her skin is now much less inflamed. Her fur is also beginning to grow back.

There is no way of finding out who let her get into this terrible condition and we just hope there are not others out there somewhere in the same condition.

UPDATE: Juno has found a new home with the people who rescued him.
