Newbridge Patrician Secondary School to take a Million Steps for Cancer

A scene from last year's Relay for Life

Newbridge Patrician Secondary School is taking a stand against cancer.

Tomorrow, Friday May 3, the school will hold a 3k walk called - Million Steps for Cancer in support of Kildare Relay for Life. The majority of the school community including students and teachers are expected to take part. It will start from the school grounds at 10am, with all participants returning to the school by 11am.

The walk will leave the school grounds along the bridge walkway, heading down by the River Liffey, before turning left into College Park and accessing the school's sports grounds.  Here the perimeter of the grounds will be walked before emerging right onto College Park again.  The walk will turn left at Station Road, passing the Parish Centre, before turning left down Eyre Street. At the bottom of Eyre Street, the walk turns right, heading over the bridge and back into the school grounds.

"Teachers and others will steward the route, but we would appreciate the general public's understanding also, as this group moves along the footpaths," said the school.

Students are being encouraged to wear their favourite sports jersey and make a donation to Relay for Life, which raises funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
