The Round Towers senior football team will embark on a unique fundraising initiative to help support The Maguire Ward Family Room’ throughout the 2019 Senior Football League.

The Maguire Ward in Tallaght University Hospital is a general medical ward with a dedicated corridor for haematology and oncology patients where immuno-suppressed patients with cancers such as leukaemia, lympoma and myeloma can be cared for.

The Tallaght University Foundation is trying to raise money to develop a family room on the ward, where the families of seriously ill patients can spend time close to their loved ones and their care team, in a more comfortable and discrete environment than the general hospital corridor.

“For every game Round Towers win or draw, James Nolan’s pub will donate €100 to our fund,” said PRO Liam Toft.

“For every game we lose the panel and management will donate €100 to the fund. Each game will have a man of the match award of €50, kindly sponsored by individuals in our community.

“The nominated player will donate the award to our fund.”

A collection box will also be set up in a prominent position at senior league home games.

“People who attend the match are welcome to make a contribution to the fund. This is a really good cause that is close to our hearts,” he added.
