Progress on new St Farnan’s school in Prosperous

Growing Prosperous

The closing date for the receipt of tenders for the planned new 1,000 pupil St Farnan’s Post Primary school in Prosperous closed this week, on April 2, to be precise, according to information given to Kildare North Labour general election candidate Emmet Stagg.

Last October, the Department gave Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB) approval to appoint a design team to knock down the existing building and build a new school to cater for 1,000 pupils.

This was a change from a previous plan for a 600 pupil extension. Last June, Cllr Brendan Weld, chairman of the school Board of Management, said that they hoped to have a new state-of-the-art school in the next three to four years.
