Mary Valentine, Shane Rushe, Edel Lambe and Sam Dunwoody

Rushes SuperValu Naas picked the National Rehabilitation Hospital Dun Laoghaire as their chosen Charity of the Year 2018.

Each year the management and staff nominate a charity and direct all their fundraising efforts towards their chosen good cause.

The NRH, which caters for adults and children, is a fully publicly-funded hospital providing medical specialist rehabilitation to adults and children , who as a result of an accident, illness or injury require rehabilitation in such areas as brain injury (including stroke), spinal injury, prosthetics, orthotics and limb absence. It is the only hospital of its kind in Ireland.

Together with customers and staff, the Rushes group raised €15,000 across their four stores, three of which are located in Dublin.

This year the group has chosen thee Irish Cancer Society as the charity to benefit in 2019.

Shane Rushe commented: “We were delighted to partner with the NHR for 2018 and we had a very successful year .

“We would like to extend many thanks to our customers and our staff . We are looking forward to assisting the Irish Cancer Society this year because all of us know people who have been been affected by this terrible disease.”
