A Newbridge councillor is calling on the council to install seats at the new skatepark across from Dunnes Stores.
Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy put a motion down at Wednesday's (March 20) Municipal District meeting concerning the matter.
She said that given the success of the new skatepark, she would like the council provide ” seating for parents who have no option at the moment but to stand for long periods while supervising young children; replace the bins that were removed when redesigning the park” and install “the CCTV envisaged for the park”.
There were some previous complaints about littering at the park and the council had undertaken to provide a bin at the site.
The campaign for the facility spanned decades and the new development was greeted with great enthusiasm by skaters when it finally opened.
